Lavern William Luepker

LaVern William Luepker, 71, passed away Friday, November 20, 2009.


"Vern" was born on New Years Eve, December 31, 1937, to William and Frances Luepker of Luana Iowa. He graduated Magna Cum Laude at the University of Iowa with a degree in Accounting. Following his graduation he worked for John Deere and Company. While conducting an audit in Atlanta, GA. Vern met and married June M Burns on November 11, 1961. Vern and June had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary. Vern worked management positions at Deere and Company, followed by International Harvester, and TRW. In 1987, Vern and a colleague formed their own management consulting company and were very successful around the world. Vern developed a proprietary methodology for standard costing which proved to be a beneficial tool in profitability management. His wife June accompanied him on many of his travels to Europe, Australia, New Zealand and across Asia.


Vern retired in 2003 and cherished the time spent with family and friends. Prior to moving to Jacksonville in 2000, Vern and June lived on South Padre Island TX. Vern enjoyed fishing as a hobby, especially Fly Fishing in New Zealand. Vern forever remained a fan of his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes (football team).


He is survived by his wife June, and sons Todd of Dallas TX, and John (Chris) Burns of Matthews NC. Brother Leroy (Donna) Luepker of Lowden IA. Brother in law Thomas Montgomery of Savannah GA. Grandchildren; Kristin Burns, Rachel (Allen) Holmes and Joseph Burns. Nieces; Beth (John) Powell, Leah (Bryan) Player, Laurie (James) Bowers and Nephew; Lonnie (Stacy) Luepker.


Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1415 S. McDuff Ave, Jacksonville. Donations may be made to Community Hospice of Jacksonville FL.
