James H. "Jim" Kerfien, Sr.

James H. (Jim) Kerfien Sr., 72 of Zephyrhills, FL passed away on November 19,2009 at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Volney, New York to Herbert and Doris (Haynes) Kerfien. He retired in 1973 as a senior chief petty officer after serving 20 years in the US Navy Submarine service. He had been a member of the Masonic Fraternity since 1974 and served as Past Master of Lake City Lodge 127, Oswego, NY. He is survived by his beloved wife Dawn E. (Coe) Kerfien, daughters, Donna (Doug) Salz of St. Petersburg, FL, Leesa (John) Hartz, and Valerie Hoey of Oswego, NY, son James (Dom) Jr. of Iowa, and 4 stepchildren, Terry Ware, Pam (Jim)Thompson, Michael Ware of Oswego, NY and Kim (Jerry) Furney of Jordon, NY and 11 grandchildren. Jim was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and a dear friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all. In lieu of flowers a donation in Jim’s memory may be made to the Lycoming Methodist Church, Lycoming, New York 13093 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 North Halsted Street Suite 201,Chicago, Illinois 60642-2642. There will be a memorial service for Jim at the Lycoming Methodist Church in the spring of 2010. Details will be published at a later date.
