Marissa Tyne (Hall) Weightman, 39, passed away on July 21, 2017, after a long hard-fought battle with cancer, surrounded by family, and other loved ones. Marissa was born in Miami, Florida on August 2, 1977. In high school, she moved to Jacksonville, where she spent most of her life, with the exception of a few short ventures in Fort Lauderdale, Chattanooga, and Colorado Springs.
All who knew her would agree that Marissa was an exceptional creature with an insatiable appetite for life and love. Stunningly beautiful and exceptionally athletic, she caught the eye of most who crossed her path. In high school, she not only modeled, but was named Most Valuable Player (“MVP”) in volleyball, basketball and track.
Upon entering the workforce, it was apparent that Marissa was a born leader; she was an extraordinary manager and excelled in every position she held. Intelligent, charismatic and engaging, Marissa exuded the kind of confidence that commanded an entire room.
She was a cheerleader for all, and a voice for those who needed one. Marissa’s vivacious demeanor and positive energy impacted countless lives, and left an imprint on each and every one of us who knew and loved her, something we will cherish and hold dear to our hearts forever.
Of all Marissa’s accomplishments, her daughter Sierra was, by far, her greatest masterpiece. She was Marissa’s miracle child and the absolute love of her life.
Marissa is preceded in death by her mother, Ivonne Hall, and her grandparents, Emerito and Elia (“Yella”) Izquierdo, and Charles and Earline Hall.
Marissa is survived by her daughter, Sierra; father, Jeffrey Dodson Hall (Vickie); brother, Jeffrey Dodson Hall, Jr. (Laura); aunt, Magaly Kramp; cousins, Robby Kramp and Kristy Kramp; niece and nephew, Charleigh Hall and Jesse Hall; boyfriend, Gregory Hancock; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Marissa’s life will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church of Mandarin, located at 10938 Hood Rd S., Jacksonville, FL 32257.
In lieu of flowers, Marissa would want donations to help with her daughter, Sierra. Please make checks payable to Sierra Weightman and send them to 180 Riverwalk Blvd S., St. John’s, FL 32259. If you have any questions, please call Laura at (904) 226-0140.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14: 1-4
