It is with deep sorrow that we share the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Maxine “Max” Carol Terry, 77, of Fruit Cove, Florida. With God’s Grace, she was gratefully released from her pain on June 12th, 2017 at 10:40 pm.
Carol was born on August 21, 1939 in Crown Point, Indiana, and was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Isabelle Lemley, brother Virgil, sisters Roberta, Anne and Lynne, son-in-law Randy, grandson, Tristan and honorary son, Eliot. Max is survived by her husband John Terry Jr., her children Roger (Dana), Shannon (Patty), Cassie (Mark), Johnna, Jay, Kelly (Jim), Tommy (Michelle), Brooke, Cameron, and Courtney, with honorary children in love Peter, Lori, Suzie, Evans, David, and Colleen. She is survived by her grandchildren Caitlin (Joseph), Jeremy, Ashton, Sarah (Mike), Elexa, Corey, Samuel Carroll, Nathan, Braden (Michael), Perrin, Mark (Bridget), Heather (Declan), Ryan, Kyle, Jayden, Jessica (Jessie), James, L’Oreal, Alex, Nicolas, Austin (Taubianna), Aubrey, Courtney, Brandon, Cody (Delia), Griffin, Yasmin, Matthews, Hunter, Amir, Kelsey (Tommy) and her great-grandchildren Orion, Avery, Brayden, Hartley, Alberta, Trinity, Declan, Charley Mae, Brooke, Elliot, and Storm.
In addition to being a fiercely committed mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister and friend, Carol was a gifted artist and art teacher, social commentator, voracious reader, fanatic fisherwoman, lifelong softball enthusiast, and Chicago Cubbies Fan. We heard “Go Cubbies” our whole life!
We have measured ourselves to Mom for her resilience, ingenuity, integrity, creativity, resourcefulness, and never-failing love and attribute any of those same qualities we may have achieved to her example. This tiny powerhouse of a woman strengthened her loved ones with endless support and encouragement. We are so very grateful to have had her in our lives for as long as we did, were not prepared to let her go, and will miss her immensely.
God shines light and brings joy to this precious soul who has touched so many. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s, or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on July, 9th 2017 at 2:00 pm at The Mandarin Community Center 12447 Mandarin Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32223.
