Brenda Sue Burgess

Brenda Sue Burgess of Hilliard, FL passed away peacefully Monday, May 29th at Hadlow Hospice Center in Jacksonville, FL after a nine year battle with vascular dementia.
Brenda was born on July 9, 1948 to James and Vivian White in North Carolina. She retired in 2005 after 30 years with the Nassau Co. Board of County Commissioners - Road and Bridge Department in Hilliard. She loved the beach, camping, traveling, trips with her sisters, and every moment she could get with her daughter and granddaughters. She will be remembered for her love of family, her beauty, giving heart, and her fighting spirit.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 45 years Donnie W. Burgess.
She is survived by her only child: Jennifer (Butch) Perkins; Granddaughters: Noel and Gracie Hardwick; Sisters: Carol (Frank) Novak, Wendy (Stan) Baugham, Cathy (Dean) Thompson, Denise (Dean) Richards; Brother: Daryl White. Many nieces and nephews.
Memorialization will be by cremation under the care of A Dignified Alternative-Hatcher. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida or Dementia/Alz Research.
