Sandra Owens Shurr

December 16, 1937 — July 25, 2016

Sandra (Owens) Shurr, 78, of St. Johns, FL went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2016. She was born to Vera and Mulkey Owens on December 16, 1937, and married her husband of 58 years, Michael A. Shurr, in Austin Texas.

Sandy’s family will miss her greatly. She is survived by her loving Husband, Michael Shurr, sister, Cindy (Owens) and her husband, Walt McCullough, and her children: Jacque (Shurr) Collins, Caryn (Shurr) and Don Massenzio, and Lynda (Shurr) and John Parsons; Her Grandchildren: Tyler and Kate Collins, Taryn (Collins) and Jake Griffin, Dana (Collins) and Ben Rutter, John Parsons III, Bailey Parsons, Mario Massenzio, Maria Massenzio, and Lillie Massenzio; Her Great Grandchildren: Tyler Collins Jr. (with the Lord), Nicholas Collins, Charlotte Collins, Eliza Griffin and 2 miracles still in God’s formation.

Sandy and Mike have been active members of San Juan del Rio Catholic Church. It was here that Sandy was instrumental in the formation of the Prayer Blanket Ministry which has comforted thousands of families. The Prayer Blanket Ministry, thru the generosity of the parish family, also supports the Critical Care and High Risk Breast Cancer Units at St. Vincent’s Southside Hospital. This ministry will continue through the efforts of Mike, Caryn, and Lillie along with all the loving servants that are involved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church at 1718 State Road 13, St.Johns, FL 32259 beginning at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 13, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Juan Del Rio Catholic Church Prayer Blanket Ministry or your Local Non-Profit Hospice.
