John "Jack" Winkler

October 11, 1947 — March 10, 2016

Jack Winkler, 68, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, went “gentle into that good night” on March 10, 2016, at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida’s McGraw Center for Caring. He was born on October 11, 1947, in Plainfield, NJ and was the son of Burton and Angela Winkler.

Jack graduated with a BBA from Adelphi University, NY, in 1969 and earned his MBA from Columbia University, NY, in 1971. He enjoyed a long career as President and Vice President of Marketing and Sales for several Fortune 500 Companies, including Pepsi, Kraft, General Foods and Burger King. Jack’s business travels took him to many U.S. Cities, ultimately relocating to Miami/Coral Gables, FL. While working on his MBA at Columbia, Jack published a marketing thesis in The Harvard Review.

Jack met his bride, Susan, in Coral Gables and they subsequently moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, where Jack owned The New Business Company, a marketing and sales business. He enjoyed mentoring recent Columbia University graduates along with sailing, his fondest hobby. Jack traveled the world with his Bride, relishing visits with family and dear friends.

When recalling Jack’s analytical advice of “turning the world one quarter of a turn,” people gained a new perspective on thought and action. He possessed tremendous foresight into economic and historic world affairs. Jack was presciently aware of events, including his own passing, and fought the good fight until the very end.

Jack was preceded in death by parents Burton and Angela, along with siblings, Burt Winkler and Michael Winkler. He is survived by “Always his Bride” of nineteen years, Susan, and his loyal Service/Therapy dog, Bristol. Additionally, he leaves children Brendan (Allison) Winkler of Chicago, Matthew Winkler of Seattle and Wendi Winkler of NYC as well as siblings Lorrie (Mike) Ksiazek of Newtown, PA, William Winkler of Lawrence, KS, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

To honor Jack’s wishes, no services will be held; however, please consider making a donation in his name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. We are so grateful for the compassionate and dignified care that Jack received at McGraw Center and wish to thank the entire staff for embracing us as their family.

“Good night sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
