Marvin “Red” William Brown, 93, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away February 27, 2016. He was born on January 14, 1923 in Phoenix, Maryland the son of Henry Stephen and Margaret Southard Brown. Marvin graduated from Towson High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired in 1986 from Pitney Bowes after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church for the past 66 years. He was a member of the Church Council, Men’s Bible Study, Choir and the Property Committee. Marvin loved to visit with people and tell stories. He would often recount his days as a boy growing up on the farm with his extended family. He was a very handy man, who could fix almost anything you could give him that didn’t work.
Marvin was predeceased by his beloved spouse of 65 years, Aubrie Burch Brown ten short months ago. They were a devoted couple, who were rarely seen without each other after Marvin retired.
Marvin is survived by his son Robert (Barbara) Brown, sister, Juanita Athearn, grandsons Aaron (Christina) Brown and Leighton Brown, and great-grandchildren Madison Smith and Kyle Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 11:00am at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, FL, The Reverend Robert Hale officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3976 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville FL, 32207.
