George T. Sakaris

George Thomas Sakaris, 88, of Jacksonville, FLA passed away on Monday February 22, 2016. Born to parents Thomas and Anna Sakaris on January 13, 1928 in Hempstead, NY, George served bravely in the US Navy, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
He was married to Ethel Sakaris on December 31, 1977. He is survived by his loving wife and his daughters Christine Fattizzi, Cheryl Miller and his son Robert Sylvia, as well as his grandchildren Nicole Hendry, Nate and Seth Sylvia, Jesilyn Mousa and Anthony Thomas, Michael Christopher, James Joseph and Paul Vincent Fattizzi, as well as their families.
George will be remembered as an accepting and understanding man who had love and respect for those he was close to. He had a soft spot for children, especially his grandchildren. He took special care of his family with selfless generosity.
