Laura Erdelyi, child of God, was killed in a head-on collision on Valentine’s Day. Laura was raised by her mother and father, Mike and Susan Erdelyi, her brothers and sisters in Christ at Riverside Presbyterian Church and by the many friends, teachers and mentors who loved and shared their precious gifts with her. A unique “old soul” Laura’s closest friends ranged in age from 0-96 years. She loved the arts and fitness and was a body pump instructor at the Yates YMCA where she became passionate about helping others find their confidence in their strength, as she joined them in finding hers. Laura attended John Stockton Elementary School, LaVilla School of the Arts, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and was a senior at the University of North Florida. Laura loved children and served as a treasured nanny and babysitter for many babies and children, all of whom she adored. Laura knew that the joy of living was helping others. Laura is survived by her parents Michael and Susan Erdelyi, her sister Alexis Erdelyi (23) aunts and uncles, Betty Dempsey, Steve and Darla Erdelyi, Sandra Smith, Frank Erdelyi and many cousins. Laura’s family and friends are grateful for 20 years of her hugs, her smiles, her joy and most of all her loving, joyful spirit. Services in honor of Laura will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday February 20 at Riverside Presbyterian Church, 849 Park Street, Jacksonville with the reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Laura by donations to Angels for Allison or the Yates/Winston YMCA.
