Melvin B Combs Sr.

Melvin B. Combs, Sr., 79, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. Melvin was born April 2, 1937 to Alton Scott and Shirley Smith Combs in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Lee High and served in the United States Army. Melvin made his career with State Farm Insurance Company. He attended Wesconnett Baptist Church and cherished time spent with his family. He loved being outdoors; hunting, fishing, golfing or building something and also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Melvin will always be remembered for his humorous and giving personality. Melvin is preceded in death by his parent, Alton and Shirley Combs and survived by, his wife, Hope Combs; sons, Melvin Combs, Jr., Brooks Lee Combs, Alton Scott Combs; step-children, Jason Carmichael, Monica Lucero; sisters, Bessie Mancill and Caroline Kahle and six much loved grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Crown Point Baptist Church at 10153 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257 with Pastor Bill Blanton officiating. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or a favorite charity of your choice.
