Thomas Eugene Haddock, Sr.

July 27, 1928 — January 4, 2016

Thomas "Tommy" Eugene Haddock, 87, passed peacefully on January 4, 2016. He was born in Jacksonville on July 27, 1928 and was raised in Jacksonville Beach. Tommy graduated from Fletcher High School in 1946 then attended South Georgia Jr. College on a football and baseball scholarship. He qualified for Navy V-5 flight school in Pensacola and flew Corsairs off the USS Oriskany, CV-34. Tommy played football and baseball in the Navy. His baseball team won the fleet Championship. He was awarded a walk on scholarship with the Florida Gator football team. Tommy played halfback on the Gators first Bowl eligible team, a victory in the 1952 Gator Bowl. He graduated with a BBA from University of Florida and was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha order, and over the years he joined many civic and fraternal orders. He had a long career in business and was a natural salesman. Tommy married Nancy Marion Jennings in 1953. They had a daughter and a son, Katherine Haddock Lundvall (Bob), and Thomas E. Haddock, Jr. (Valerie). He married Elizabeth “Libby” Moore in 1965 and had two daughters, Mary Theresa Ambrose (Chip) and Kimberly Sue Haddock. He is survived by his only brother, “Bernie” Haddock and sister in law, “Pat” Haddock, niece Holly Carillon (William) and nephew Chip Haddock. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren.
Memorial mass to be held Saturday, January 23 at 1:30 pm St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Church reception to follow.
