Ellen T. Hough

d. June 9, 2015

Ellen Hough of Fruit Cove, left us on June 9, 2015 after a long and valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. Born to Ely and Myrtle Thompson in Rockingham, GA she spent most of her life in the Jacksonville area. Ellen was born in December and the year still remains a secret.
She will be remembered as one of the truly nicest people one could ever meet. Her beautiful smile and personality would light up a room and she thoroughly enjoyed her life. Ellen was an athlete her whole life and was a star basketball player in high school. She will be remembered in Jacksonville, by many, as a bowling instructor, manager and excellent bowler as well as an accomplished tennis player and golfer. She enjoyed playing golf at the old Dunes, Baymeadows, Champions, South Hampton and Deercreek. She owned two motorcycles in her younger years and had a couple of dozen jumps as a sky diver. Ellen was liberated before the NOW crowd invented the term, yet still expected to be treated like the elegant lady she was.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her husband Larry, son Terry Stringer (Susie), daughters Jan Bickford (Wade), Tammy DeMeza (Paul), Elisabeth Brommer (Jeff) and Susan Geer (Scott), sisters Connie Cantrell, Evelyn Boatwright and Donna Morris, grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor Ellen will be held Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Hospice Center, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257
