Helen was born on December 2, 1939 in Gary, Indiana. She graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1957. She later graduated from Gary Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. It was during her time in nursing school that she became close friends with many of her classmates who continued to stay in touch with her throughout the years. She spent much of her career working as a registered nurse with oncology and trauma at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Helen spent her time volunteering with hospice, Girl Scouts and her children’s school. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida and St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Highland Hts., Ohio.
Helen will be remembered for her patience, sweet disposition, gardening skills and small handwriting! She loved her family and friends from Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Many of whom she got to know in the neighborhood, workplace and school. She deeply cared about others and their well-being and would make sure to remember them on holidays and special occasions. She had a strong faith in God and when asked how she got through the tough times, she would say “All you can do is pray!”
