Randolph (Randy) E. Blankenship, II passed away in Jacksonville, Florida on April 4 following a body building competition. He lived many years in Raleigh, North Carolina where he attended North Carolina State University and worked at the Longbranch. In the last few years, he moved to Florida where he worked as the manager of The Pier Cantina and Sandbar in Jacksonville Beach. Randy was well known for his love of the gym and weight room. He placed in many competitions throughout North Carolina and then continued with the competitions in Florida. Randy is survived by his mother Sherry Blankenship of Athens Ohio, his father, Randolph Blankenship, Sr., his sister Allyson Blankenship and two nephews, Christian and Nicholas all of Concord, NC as well as uncles in Italy and Kentucky, and great aunts and cousins in Vermont and Massachusetts.
Randy had a wicked sense of humor that was accurate but also biting. He could make you laugh at the idiocies of life. Randy was no-nonsense and streamlined his life to focus on the things that mattered to him. He was actually a real softy but he would never let you know it. There will be a celebration of life for Randy in Jacksonville Beach at the Pier Cantina and Sandbar, Jacksonville Beach on Monday April 13, 2015 from 5 to 7 pm. Gifts of condolence can be made to The Jacksonville Beach Humane Society, www.jaxhumane.org
