Laudra Phares Everett passed away at age ninety-six on Monday, March 30, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. Laudra was born to Laudra Bissell Wakeman and H. C. Wakeman on April 11, 1918 in Pontiac, MI. She attended the University of Michigan and the Chicago Art Institute. She married Gilbert K. Phares in 1942 and they spent much of their lives in Mt. Lebanon, PA. where they raised three children and were very active in civic and social activities. They later retired to Jacksonville, Fl. After Gilbert’s death, Laudra was happily married to Harold Everett in 2001 until his passing in 2009.
A talented and prolific artist, Laudra was a founding member of the Cypress Village Art League in Jacksonville. Her ageless energy, beauty, kindness and outgoing personality will be sorely missed by her loving family and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by husband Gilbert K. Phares, son Gilbert W. Phares, husband Harold Everett, sister Irene Cleveland and granddaughter Christine Laudra Krummrich. She is survived by daughter Patricia A. Krummrich, son Karl M. Phares, granddaughters Julia P. Krummrich and Kimberly Phares, and sisters Virginia Howerth and June Needham.
Memorial services will be Saturday April 11 at 2:00PM in Egret hall at Cypress Village (4600 Middleton Park Circle East, Jacksonville) with Rev. Dr. Dave Alexander presiding, with a reception to immediately follow. All are welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cypress Village Community Fund (checks payable to “CVCF” and please specify “gift in memory of Laudra Everett” on the check.
