Joseph Ferreira, 95, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Monday, March 23, 2015. He was born September 25, 1919 in Teaneck, NJ, the son of John and Bertha Ferreira and eldest of nine siblings. He was a strong young athlete with noted abilities in track, soccer, and softball. His interest in aviation led him to serve in both the Army and the Navy during World War II. Upon his discharge, he worked as an engine inspector for John Deere and then Curtiss Wright until his retirement and move to Florida with his wife Charlotte. He was a lifelong fan of both the New York Yankees and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Joe will always be remembered for his care and kindness towards others, his service and generosity to his neighbors, his spunky attitude even into his mid-nineties, and an insatiable love of coffee and doughnuts and real New York style pizza. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ferreira, son, Nick Ferreira, daughter Gertie Poole, and many siblings. Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Chuck) Mockel; his sister, Dorothy Ferreira, both of Summerfield, FL; granddaughter, Tiffiny Poole; son-in-law James Poole, Jr. both of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Ronald Mockel, of West Milford, New Jersey.
