Paul Wesley Michael

Paul Wesley Michael of Fleming Island, Florida passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2015. He was born on a farm in Magnolia Township, Iowa on February 1, 1935 to Alice May Michael and Frances August Michael. He went to high school at Magnolia Consolidated High and was in a quartet as well as many other organizations. He graduated as Valedictorian. He was a quite gentle soul who was very smart. He received a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1957 and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Florida in 1979. He was employed at Newport News Shipbuilding as a Manager of Cost Engineering until 1972 and then transferred to Offshore Power Systems in Florida where he worked for 10 years. After that he work independently as an engineering consultant to several engineering firms. He was married to Joan O'Neil Michael for 38 years and they raised 5 children.

In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and loved to fish. He especially loved to fly fish at their summer home in Montana , He and his wife loved to travel and visited all 50 States & several foreign counties. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams included the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Redskins, Florida State Seminoles and Atlanta Braves. He loved to work Sudoku, crossword puzzles and play computer solitaire.

He is survived by his wife Joan O'Neil Michael of Fleming Island, Florida, his brother Eugene Michael ( Jane); his son Paul Wesley Michael, Jr ( Sheryl); his daughter Carolyn Michael Brabrand ( David); son Jim Hampton; son Jeff Hampton and daughter Haley Glisson. Grandchildren include Blake Michael, Danielle Michael, Joshua Cagle and Gage Glisson. Extended family members Marsha Skiles (Mike) and Carl Richard (Deanna). We must not forget about his beloved dog Maddie.

He was predeceased in death by his mother Alice May Michael (2001); his Father Frances August Michael (1982) and his brother Lyle Frances Michael (2010).

He was cremated by Dignified Alternative - Hatcher Cremations in Jacksonville, Florida. A Celebration of His Life with family and friends will be held at his home on 3/22/15 at 1:00 p.m.

A special heartfelt thank you to Joan, for all of her love, care and support which allowed him to stay in his home as long as possible. Also thank you to Jeff Hampton , Robin Simpson, Haley Glisson, Marsha and Mike Skiles for their unselfish care-taking. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
