Floyd Powe, 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Washington, DC passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015.

Born on September 3, 1936 in Clarksdale, Mississippi he served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from American University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice in Law Enforcement and a minor in Corrections. He also completed the Archon Institute for Leadership Development in 1989 and attended George Washington University. He retired from the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC in 1985. A Jazz enthusiast, Tenor saxophonist, Antique Collector, Power Lifter where he was most recently included in the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters Hall of Fame in Florida, and an avid Harley man, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Edna Powe and brother Warner Melvin “Sonny” Powe. He is survived by his devoted wife Bertha, three brothers, Norris (Lola), John (Barbara Ann), Joe (Dorothy), one sister Leanna Niles. three sisters-in-law Patricia Kidwell, Frances Johnson, and Lenora Jenkins, one step daughter Ronda Vincent, two grandsons Kyonte’ and Christian Vincent, a devoted niece Judith Powe, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
