Venancio “Vence” Acevedo, 68, Jacksonville, FL, passed away on January 03, 2015 in Orange Park, FL. He was born June 22, 1946 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Venancio Acevedo and Candida Hernandez. Vence was a Vietnam Veteran, serving on the USS Newman K. Perry DD883. He married Jeannette Kenedy on November 17, 1978 in Jersey City, NJ and attended First Christian Church of Mandarin. He enjoyed building Hot Dog Carts in his spare time. Vence always thought family was first and at all family gatherings he was a character, no matter what the topic he always had a quirky comment. He was always the life of the party and made everyone laugh. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Luis Acevedo. Vence is survived by his wife, Jeannette Kenedy Acevedo; children, Paula Negron, Lisa McKown, David Colon, Alice Acevedo, Vicky Brown, Mark Acevedo; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grand daughter; sisters, Delia Acevedo, Dolores Reid, Ana Texeira, Lydia Mauleon, Judith Reyes, Jennie Milan, Sonia Acevedo and brothers, Ruben Flores, John Acevedo, David Acevedo. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 15, 2015 at First Christian Church, Mandarin - 11924 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL with Pastor Luis G. Velez officiating. Family is requesting in lieu of cut flowers, live plants are appreciated.
