Lore Erika Elkins, 89, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior on Sunday, December 28. Lore was born April 20, 1925 in Waldenweiler, Germany. In 1952 she met William Elkins, a handsome American soldier stationed at Robinson Barracks in Stuttgart, Germany. The two were married in Canada that September and moved to Columbia, South Carolina. The couple eventually made Jacksonville their home in 1972.
Lore was an avid gardener spending countless hours tending to her beautiful flowers. She was also an accomplished artist. Lore’s pencil drawings captured her memories growing up in Germany and were a featured art display at Bethel Gallery in Ponte Vedra and Agape Christian Book Store.
Lore was predeceased by her beloved husband Bill, sisters Emmy, Lydia, Maria, Amma, and brother Eugen. She is survived by her loving family Brigitte (Horst) Sieffert, Linde Schulz, Inge (Thomas) Sullivan, Linda (Joe) Creamons, and Thomas (Kim) Sullivan III.
A private memorial service will be held on January 11th. Susan Dyer, Lore’s best friend for many years, will officiate the service. Lore will join her husband and be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
