Grace Theresa Katich

Grace Theresa Katich, age 40, died on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Grace grew up in both Jacksonville, Florida and San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio and Florida Community College Jacksonville. Known to many friends as Lola Ivesly, Grace organized many activities and events that benefited the larger Jacksonville community such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Bored in Jacksonville, and Jacksonville Zombie Walk, among others. Grace was an intelligent, vibrant, and intense woman whose love of her children, nature, books, poetry, music, coffee, and gardening were obvious to all around her. Grace was recently preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Antonia Escamilla Ramirez. She is survived by her parents, Norine Daniel Katich and Paul Katich; sister, Kristina Katich; four children, Antonia Crowley (Travis), Michelle Shimp, Neil Shimp, and Nicholas Shimp; one granddaughter, Bonnie Rose Crowley; two grandparents, Reynaldo Ramirez and Barbara Koger, in addition to many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be dearly missed by all friends and family.
The memorial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at The Garden Club of Jacksonville, 1005 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32204. It will be a celebration of her life, so we encourage you to wear color, respectfully.
