Sarah A. "Nan" Stevens

Sarah A. Stevens passed away on August 23, 2014.
Born to James and Sarah Henning in West Bay, Grand Cayman Island in 1928, "Nan" migrated to Florida in 1950, eventually settling in Jacksonville where she would meet her husband and raise her family. A family-oriented and selfless person, she also was the primary caregiver for her ill brother-in-law for 8 years. Her favorite things in life were family and friends. She was usually the life - and instigator - of the party. Her other interests were music, dancing, cooking, gardening, and shopping. She was preceded in death by Chester (Chet), her husband of 50 years. Left to mourn are two sons, Gene and Kurt (Cindy), unofficial son Dalton, family, and friends. Many thanks to the staff of Sunrise Senior Living for the care they provided for Mom for the last 4+ years of her life.
A memorial service will be held at 4PM on Friday August 29th at Peace Presbyterian Church, 2300 Southside Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.
