Matilda (Tillie) B. Kuchta

November 12, 1924 — July 25, 2014

Matilda (Tillie) B. Kuchta, of Atlantic Beach, Fleet Landing passed away on 7/25/14. She was born in Ringtown, PA on 11/12/1924; parents were Bill and Anna Kerchusky. She graduated from Penn State University in 1945 and then worked as a secretary for the State Department in Japan in 1946. There she met Dan Kuchta, and they were married in Milwaukee at Marquette University Chapel on February 14, 1948. During Dan’s service in the U.S. Air Force, they lived in many different states and countries. Eventually they lived in Knoxville, TN, for 35 years. In Knoxville, Tillie was active with competitive bridge, tennis, golf, and swimming. She loved traveling, especially on cruises. During her nine years at Fleet Landing Retirement Community she immensely enjoyed all her friends and activities, especially dancing. Tillie is survived by her husband Dan Kuchta, her spouse of 65 years. She is also survived by her daughter, Kathy Ann Zuck, married to Steve Zuck, of Kingston, TN and her son Daniel W. Kuchta, with his wife Maureen, of Brockport, NY. Tillie also has three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Her cremated remains will be buried in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fleet Landing Endowment Fund or the Endowment Scholarship Fund.
