Cynthia Lacy Parks, 80, passed away Friday following an illness. Mrs. Parks retired from the Florida Publishing Co. in 1994 after working as a feature writer for almost 30 years with the Florida Times-Union. She was an eloquent and gifted journalist who loved having the opportunity to write about the people, art, and culture of our community and country. Mrs. Parks was born in Tampa, FL, and moved to Jacksonville as a teenager and attended Landon High School and University of Florida. She was married to the late Robert Leavitt Parks for nearly 53 years and is survived by a son, Robert Medland Parks, and a daughter, Rachel Parks Stewart, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service to commemorate the gift of her life will be held Thursday 11AM at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Avenue 32207.
