Beverly Jean Meharg

Beverly Jean McCary Meharg passed away on August 5, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born in Ferndale, Michigan on June 22, 1932 to the late Wilbert McCary and Phillis Gallacher McCary-Lane of Port Huron, Michigan. Beverly attended Michigan State Normal College in 1949 where she met her beloved husband of 60 years, Hobart Meharg of Yale, Michigan. They were married on June 14, 1952 in Flat Rock, Michigan. She taught 1st and 2nd grades until leaving to support her husband's career as a Marine Corps jet fighter pilot and followed by executive roles for State Farm Insurance. They enjoyed many years of world travel together.

Beverly will be remembered for her gentle gracious nature, beautiful smile and cheerful sense of humor. She was a women of uncommon grace and dignity. Beverly was an avid reader, accomplished seamstress, enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles but most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Hobart Meharg, daughters Michelle Meharg-Nearing of Kissimmee, FL, Janice Mann (Dave) of Newberry SC, Steven Meharg (Debra) of St. Cloud, FL, brother Richard McCary, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A private celebration of her life will be held in Florida at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to:
