Cdr Betty Jean Winiski

CDR Betty Jean Winiski, USNR/RET passed on 26 June 2012 at Shands Jacksonville in Florida. Betty was born on 25 April 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio. She served as an officer in the US Navy both over-seas and stateside. Local assignments included Strike Fighter Wing, Cecil Field as the Administrative Officer, and the Naval Reserve Center Jacksonville as the Executive Officer and the Commanding officer. At the time of passing, Betty was employed as a contract Dental Hygienist at the NAS Jacksonville Dental Clinic.

She leaves her sister Mary Jane Quigley (Glen) of Newbury Ohio, Aunt Anne Hondz of Lakewood Ohio and many cousins, nieces and nephews in northeast Ohio and Seattle Washington.

Betty’s parents Alex and Frances Winiski preceded her passing and were always proud of her many achievements. Her mother was particularly proud of Betty’s military service and always beamed when talking about it.

Betty was a sweet caring person; her death breaks the hearts of her family and many friends. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery Cleveland Ohio at a later date.
