Maria "Stella" Williams

A service honoring and celebrating the life of Maria Stella Williams, will be Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., New Hope Baptist Temple, 103rd St.

After 86 years of living a productive and blessed life, on June 19, 2012 Stella went home to be with her Lord, her mother, Maria, father, Gennero, mother-in-law, Gladys and to join her beloved husband, Frank whom she shared an exciting life with from 1945 until his journey to the Lord in 2000.

Stella lived life to the fullest with great passion, humor and love. We will always be inspired by her enduring contributions to our world and the world in general. S

he was devoted to her surviving children: Frank Williams (Barbara) of Memphis, TN, Cathy Nemeth (Andrew) of Jacksonville, FL, Deborah Herndon, of Moab, UT and Robert Williams (Cheryl), of St. Augustine, FL; her seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nephews and a great nephew and great niece who she adored.

During WWII, Stella, a petite 5', entered the smallest compartments of the ships as a welder to repair and reinforce them for the safety of our soldiers. Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, reading lady at her grandchildren's school, animal rescuer and a Hospice Volunteer were among her many undertakings. Her quick wit and sense of humor kept her young and she shared it with all. She loved to dance, traveled extensively and provided a loving and warm home for her family, never saying no when it came to helping her children or grandchildren and she will be missed more than words can say. She is now reunited with her love and they will be dancing on the moon each night.
