Daryl Sterner Frank, 86, passed away on May 20, 2012. Daryl was born on April 24, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Clair Henry Sterner and the late Edythe Johanna Snyder Sterner.
After graduating as the Salutatorian from Eichelberger High School in Hanover, PA, Daryl graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA degree in Theater from Ithaca (NY) College and went on to earn an MA degree in Theater from Penn State University.
Upon moving with her husband to Johnson City, TN she taught for many years in the Theater Department of East Tennessee State University specializing in children’s theater and stage movement. Her late husband Harold Edward (Bud) Frank taught acting and directing in the same department. Daryl received a Lifetime Distinguished Service award from the Tennessee Theater Association. After her husband’s death in 2001, she moved to Atlantic Beach, FL.
Daryl is survived by her brother Gary (Susan) Sterner, sons Bryan (Celia), Gary (Marie) and Gordon Frank; grandsons Matthew, Will, Brandon, Daniel (Lindsey) and Spencer Frank; and great-grandchildren Alan and Lexie Frank.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to Hospice for their kindness to Daryl and her family through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Watauga Avenue Presbyterian Church in Johnson City, TN, The Frank Scholarship at East Tennessee State University, or the Atlantic Beach Experimental Theatre in Atlantic Beach, FL.
Arrangements are under the direction of A Dignified Alternative-Hatcher Cremations. There will be no service according to her wishes.
