John Milton Smith

John Milton Smith was born in Pike County, GA on April 20, 1922, and passed away at home on April 19, 2012. He was the last survivor of nine children and was preceded in death by Gerry, his loving wife of 62 years. He was greatly respected as a Captain in the USNR-R and later with National Airlines and PanAm. He leaves a legacy of love to all who knew him and will be remembered as a faithful, generous, kind, adventurous and warm-hearted man of integrity who loved God, his family and flying, in that order. Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Ron Smith (Judy Bryan), Karen Souder (Carl) of Orlando and Donna Tischler (Keith) of Tallahassee, his five grandchildren, Dan Smith (Tangi), Michele Seffens (Danny), Tracy Eckhoff (Dom), Jennifer Naddy (Tim), Teresa Souder and ten great-grandchildren, Miranda and Noah Smith, Leah and Ethan Eckhoff, Lane, Gavin and Adam Seffens, Jake, Luke and John David Naddy. A Celebration of Life is planned in lieu of the 90th birthday celebration his family was anticipating. This informal service will be held at his home in Middleburg on Saturday, April 21, at 2:00pm with visitation following.
