Jane W. (Williamson) Shaw, 67, of Jacksonville FL, formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012 surrounded by family and friends at NE FL Community Hospice Hadlow Center, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Buffalo on January 16, 1945 to the late Robert and Margaret Williamson.
She graduated from LaSalle High School in Niagara Falls, NY in 1963. She worked as a waitress at the officer club at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base, prior to moving to Jacksonville, 25 years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, John C. Shaw, on June 5, 2008. She was active member of the Quilter’s Club and made numerous quilts for AIDS/Cancer children organizations. She was an active member of Physical Fit gym up to the time of her illness. She will be remembered by all of the people she taught how to quilt, sew, and crochet. She was also an avid Buffalo Bills Fan and also enjoyed college football.
She is survived by her brother Jeffrey (Debbie) Williamson of Tonawanda, NY; and her children: Dr. Abigail (Dennis) Mitchell of Youngstown, NY, Theodore (Trisha) Kumm of Burt, NY, Stuart Kumm of Sanborn, NY and Anna (John) Fabrizio; stepchildren: Terri Payne, Cindy Damiano, Richard Shaw, Jeff Shaw, Steven Shaw, and the late James Shaw; grandchildren: Arielle Kumm, William Kumm, Alexander Kumm, Colt Kumm, Thomas Bax, Robert Young, and Alyson Mitchell. She also had several step grand- children, nieces, and nephews. She also had a long term friend who was more like a sister, Patricia Bohnet of Niagara Falls and a special friend, James Taylor of Jacksonville FL, and her beloved cats.
The family would like to thank Orange Park Medical Center and NE FL Community Hospice staff for the care and support. Private Memorial Service will be held later at Silver Lake in Perry NY, where she spent most of her childhood summers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donations to be made to NE FL Community Hospice in Jacksonville FL, or the SPCA of Tonawanda NY.
