Timothy H. (Tim) Smith

September 21, 1937 — October 8, 2011

Timothy H. (Tim) Smith, 74, went to the Lord on October 8, at Hadlow Center, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. He was born on September 21, 1937 in New Stanton PA., to his late parents Amos and Golda Smith. And preceded in death by brothers, Emerson and Morris Smith and two nephews and three nieces.

Moving to Jacksonville in 1978 to work for Entenmanns and Pepperidge Farm. In 1985 he became an independent distributor with Lil Debbie Snack Cakes, until he retired in April of 2000. He was known on his route and in his neighborhood with the children as "the cookie man."

Tim was a faithful member of Southside United Methodist Church. He served as leader of the Prayer Partners, was active in the Baxter Boys Bible Study, S.A.L.T Class and the Friends Ministry. He will be best remembered for his great sense of humor and being a man of God.

His greatest past time was sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and the Florida Gators.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara of 49 years; and loving son, Timmy; sisters, Emily Newell, Wanda Smith, Fran Miller and Bets Myers; brothers, David (Inga), Lyle (Louise) and Mel Smith; a special nephew Artie, and many nephews and nieces.

Our thanks to the Hospice Green Team for their love and care and to his faithful and devoted Hospice friend John Hashtac.

A celebration of life will be at Southside United Methodist Church on October 29 at 11 am.
