Harry Eugene Zipperer

Harry Eugene Zipperer, 76, of St. Augustine, FL passed away on October 1, 2011 after a prolonged illness. He was born in Savannah, GA on November 28, 1934 to Meta (Helmey) and Samuel Derrick Zipperer. He graduated from Savannah High School in 1952 and retired after working 43 years for Union Camp Corporation. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Samuel Derrick Zipperer Jr., and Walter Zipperer, and his son-in-law, CW4 Chris Scherkenbach. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kay) Kavanagh Zipperer, his sister, Mabel Spivey of Rincon, GA, his children, Tina (William) Alexander of Brooklet, GA, Cindy (Tony) Allen of Sylvania, GA, Michelle Scherkenbach of Saint Johns, FL, Keith (Allison) Zipperer of Savannah, GA, grandchildren, Amber, Bill, Shelley, Rachel, Lanie and Sarah, and great grandchildren, Kennedy and Cale. Memorial Services will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 21st at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church in Saint Johns, FL and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22nd at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Savannah, GA. Interment will be held immediately after the service on Saturday at the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the San Juan del Rio Catholic Church Building Fund, 1718 State Road 13, Saint Johns, FL 32259
