George Edward Shephard

George Edward Shephard passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Shephard and is survived by his wife, Brenda; his stepson, Shawn Duprey and his wife Vicki; his mother, Joyce Shephard and her long time friend, Maurice McGurk; his brothers: Don and his wife Sue, David, Bill and his wife Linda, Michael and his wife Susan; his sister, Missy Hart and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Drake Dean and Kelsey Duprey; cousins: Robert Bristol and his wife Lori, Bonnie Zittel and her husband Gary, Steven Bristol and his wife Sharon, Diane Welch and her husband Tony; and many nieces and nephews.

George was born in Utica, NY on July 16, 1954 and was a resident of Jacksonville for 39 years. He was a hard working man from the age of 10 and was a dedicated worker in all his endeavors. He retired from Specialty Tree Surgeons in 2007 and spent his leisure time boating, watching old movies, building birdhouses, working crossword puzzles and taking care of his yard.

George and Brenda were not only husband and wife but were also best friends for 33 years. He had a very kind, gentle and playful spirit with a great sense of humor and was loved by his many friends and family. He will be missed greatly by all.

Memorial services officiated by Chaplain James Balkey and Seminarian Marilyn Beyer will be held in the Community Hospice Chapel at 4266 Sunbeam Rd on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
