Merlin "Warren" Cantrell

Merlin “Warren” Cantrell, 73, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. He was born to Oscar Cantrell and Delores King Cantrell in Irvin County, Georgia on October 1, 1937. He honorably served in The United States Navy as an electrician. Later, he worked in Electronics & Refrigeration for the Duval County School Board and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. On August 17, 1974 he married Betty Lue Sumner. He had a passion for music and twice won the Steel Guitar of the Year Player Award.

Mr. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Delores; his sister, Myrtis; and brothers, Clyde and Tim Cantrell.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lue Cantrell; children: Judy (Bill) Harbin, Patti Fulda, and Robin Tate; grandchildren: William Maxwell Harbin, Robynn Franchele Harbin, and Jason Carl Fulda; great-granddaughters: Makenzie Annette Fulda and Makayla Rae Fulda; brothers: Melvin (Melba) Cantrell, Oscar (Barbara) Cantrell, Ronnie (Mary Frances) Cantrell; sister, Judy (Stanley) Tucker; brother-in-law, Cecil Walters; and best-friend, Jimmy (Gladys) Mancill. Also, his dogs: Rocky, Susie and Candy; and a cat, Sprukus.
