Donald Allen Rull, Sr.

February 19, 1940 — April 23, 2011

Donald Allen Rull Sr., age 71, member of UAW 637 and retiree from Dana Corporation, passed away peacefully at his home in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, April 23, 2011, following a courageous battle with kidney disease and congestive heart failure. Don was born and raised in Muskegon, MI and attended Froebel Grade School.

He was one of three children born to the late Owen and Melba Rull and was the beloved husband of Dawn Elaine Rull for over 50 years. Don will forever be remembered by his beloved sons Don Rull Jr. and Robert Woodward, treasured granddaughter Halle Woodward, and his devoted brothers Roger (Lois) and George, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him. Don loved hunting, golf, NASCAR, playing Texas Hold’em, listening to country music, helping friends and neighbors, being with his family, and creating general mischief.

Don touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark of unconditional love all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at 3pm at St. Luke’s Community Church, 1140 McDuff Avenue South, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A potluck reception will immediately follow. For friends and family closer to Michigan, another memorial service followed by a reception will be held on Monday, June 20, 2011, at 5:30pm at Wolf Lake United Methodist Church, 370 Vista Terrace, Muskegon, MI 49442. The family requests all donations be sent to a fund established in Don’s name at St. Luke’s Community Church.
