Dorothy M. Bersinger

Dorothy Margaret Knapp Bersinger, 79, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011. She was born on August 2, 1931 in Tarrytown, NY to parents Joseph and Helen Knapp. Dorothy became a Registered Nurse after graduation from St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford, IL in 1954. She worked at McLaren General Hospital in Flint, MI in the maternity ward. Dorothy married James Bersinger in 1954 in Flint and moved their family to Jacksonville in 1969. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Bersinger; daughters Marcia Rivas (Richard), Beth Fleming (Kenny), Jane Reischman (Mike) and sons Eric Bersinger (Cindi) and David Bersinger (Rosemary); sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. As well as her brother Joseph Knapp (Carole) and sister Muriel Splitgerber (Charles) and a large extended family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 6133 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL. Memorial donations may be given to Lakewood United Methodist Church, Youth Summer Choir Tour.
