Thelma Mae Johnson

d. March 30, 2011

Thelma Mae Johnson, 87, Jacksonville, FL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 30, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 at Challenge Ministries, International, 5220 Shad Road, Suite 407, Mandarin, FL 32257. Phone number 904-880-3500. After the service there will be a covered dish luncheon at the church to spend time with family and friends.

Thelma was the wife of Joe Johnson for 67 years. She is predeceased by their son Douglas C. Johnson and their daughter Carolyn M. Sikes. She leaves behind her loving husband, Joseph H. Johnson, daughters Joanne Forand (Richard) and Wanda J. Kover (Bill), sons Kenneth W. Johnson (Barbara) and Joseph H. Johnson, Jr. (Patti), daughter in law Betty Johnson (Douglas). Thelma and Joe were also blessed with 11 grand children and their spouses and 11 great grand children.

Thelma was a Christian and a hard working special person. She set an example for being a mother and wife. Thelma was very supportive of her fellow church members as a vital part of Challenge Ministries and whose life touched each and every person she came in contact with. She was a homemaker with a Military spouse who allowed her to handle all situations in the rearing of the children and decisions for the home. Everyone knew you could count on her for that “Smile” that came from the heart when you were down and feeling sad. Her blue eyes had a twinkle in them that made the day brighter for us all. She never turned down an opportunity to go bowling, take care of the grand children or go out with her husband. Sadly, we must let her go however we will keep her in our hearts forever.

Flowers will be accepted at the church and any covered dish foods for the luncheon will be received up until 10 am the day of the service.

Any charitable contributions may be made to “Challenge Ministries", as they are a local church that are clothing the needy, feeding the hungry, and sharing the Gospel all around the world.
