Phyllis Mae Armstrong, 88, of Jacksonville Florida, formerly of Warren Ohio, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at Memorial Hospital. After almost two weeks in the critical care unit, she lost a hard fought battle with bilateral pneumonia.
Phyllis was born November 11, 1922 in Niles, Ohio, daughter of the late Fred and Olga Hampson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert F. Armstrong.
Phyllis is survived by three loving daughters, Leslie Post, Robyn Moronti, and Patti Frank, son in law Michael Frank, and four grandchildren, Jason Silvey, Jaimie Post, Michael Post, and
Bobby Frank. She is also survived by her brother, William Hampson of San Louis Obispo, California.
Phyllis graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, where she was secretary of her senior class and Head Majorette. She then earned a beautician's license and worked beside her
mother for many years. Phyllis also taught preschool at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren. After the first of her three daughters were born, she retired from working to become a dedicated, loving mother and homemaker. She was active in Christ Church, volunteered in the Women's CCL, Bridge Club, Emblem Club, and was a Red Cross volunteer form many years. Phyllis loved to dance, swim, bowl, and play bridge. Above all, her favorite times were those spent entertaining friends and family.
Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedre Beach, Florida at 3:00 p,m. on Saturday, April 2. The family will
receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the Church Parish Center.
A Memorial Service and inurnment will be held at the Columbarium at Christ Episcopal Church in Warren, Ohio at a later date.
