Kenneth Ireland Hendryx, 50, of St. Augustine, died at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida on March 12, 2011. He was born on March 25, 1960 in Jacksonville, FL to Howard and Charlene Hendryx. He is survived by his loving, dedicated wife of more than 22 years, Donna Neville Hendryx; father, Howard (Sarah), Orlando; brothers, David (Anisa), Gainesville; Michael (Dawn), St. Augustine; Mark, Orlando; sisters, Nanci Neville and Michelle Scherkenbach, St. Augustine; mother-in-law, Dolores W. Neville; brother-in-law, Bill Neville; nieces, Erin, Caroline, Katie, Ellise, and Sarah and numerous beloved cousins and friends.
Ken was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Lake Howell High School in Orlando where he was senior class president and voted “Most Likely to Succeed.” He attended Florida State University where he was a brother in the Sigma Chi fraternity. He worked for many years managing restaurants in Orlando and Jacksonville and The Fresh Market grocery stores in Jacksonville. He was a gourmet chef and caterer with clients that included two U.S. presidents, a Florida governor and noted authors. For the last several years, Ken was a successful wine salesman with Southern Wine & Spirits.
Ken loved being with his friends and family and was always ready to entertain with a great story, a beautiful meal and a glass of fine wine. He had an incredible passion for life and especially enjoyed movies, books, music, fine wines and food, travel and entertaining. A very generous and giving person, Ken was a community volunteer with the Tom Coughlin Fund, Caring Chefs, Delicious Destinations for St. Vincent’s Hospital and the St. Johns County Juvenile Detention Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on March 27, 2011 at Bella Sera, 919 King Street, Jacksonville, FL.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
