Carol Carothers

December 24, 1944 — February 9, 2011

Carol Louise Schroeder Carothers, of Atlantic Beach, Florida was born December 24, 1944 in Boston Harbor, Michigan. Carol went home to be with her Lord on February 9, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Carol’s well worn Bible, with highlights and notations, is a testament to her love for her Lord and Savior.

Carol grew up in Coloma, Michigan, and was a 1962 graduate of Coloma High School. She married in 1964, and lived in Ashland, Ohio, where she raised two sons.

Carol and her sons moved to Ponte Vedra, Florida where she worked as a Floral Designer for an Interior Décor Service. She later opened her own Floral Shop in Mayport, Florida where she was consigned to design several large memorial wreaths for the nearby Mayport Naval Base.

In 1993 Carol and son, Jason, moved back to Coloma, Michigan, where she opened The Flowered Barn Floral Shop in her home on Red Arrow Highway.

In 1999, Carol moved back to the warmer climate of Atlantic Beach, Florida and worked for the Turner and Ace Hardware as their floral designer.

Her parents, Mabel (Podjan) and Emil “Ace” Schroeder, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two sons, Brian Matthew Carothers of Ashland, OH and Jason Carl Carothers of New Canton, OH; her sister, Kathleen A. (Lowell) Koppert of Rock Hill, SC; and her brother, Robert E. (Cynthia Kaye) Schroeder of Coloma, MI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

As a memorial to Carol, we ask that friends and family sign the online guestbook and leave their thoughts and memories of Carol for the family to read as they celebrate her life.
