Vladimira Janice (Jean) Kepus Jankowski

Vladimira Janice (Jean) Kepus Jankowski, age 70, formerly of Ann Arbor and Deerfield, Michigan died November 9, 2010 at the NE Florida Community Hospice Center in Jacksonville, FL after nearly two year battle with cancer. Jean was born February 5, 1940 in Toledo, OH to John and Irene (Falkowski) Kepus. She graduated from the St. Ursula Academy in 1958.

Jean married John (Joe) Jankowski, Jr., on July 4, 1959 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1986. She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Kottke of Boca Raton, FL, Carolyn (Scott) Wagner of Port Charlotte, FL, Michael of Phoenix, AZ and Christine Averill of Adrian, MI. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Rachael (Aaron) Dombrowski, Amanda Averill (Brad Goll), Austin Averill, Morgan Hill, Kaitlyn and Jonathon Wagner and one great grandson, Hayden Goll. Jean is also survived by her six brothers, Charles (Hazel) Kepus, Gerald (Margie) Kepus, Richard (Yvonne) Kepus, Donald (Diane) Kepus, Thaddeus (Francesca) Kepus, John (Andrea) Kepus and sister Patricia (Tuck) Eudy. Jean leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her parents and Fred Tittiger.

Jean worked in many fields and most recently retired from the University of Michigan in their Development Office. Jean enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, landscaping, traveling and helping charitable organizations including participating in church activities and events.

Following Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 1pm at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (Deerfield, MI) with Fr. Roland Calvert presiding. Friends and family will share fellowship before the mass in the church starting at noon. Burial of ashes by her family will be interred immediately after the mass in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the University of Michigan Mott Children’s Hospital, the NE Florida Community Hospice Center or the Mandarin Food Bank where Jean volunteered. Envelopes will be made available at the church.
