Wilfred Elzear (Bill) Birtz passed away at his home in Orange Park, FL on November 2, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred J. Birtz and Julia (Jewell) Birtz. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Royanne Birtz; his sister, Dawne Ann Birtz of Worcester, MA; Daughter, Lisa Poutre (Darryl) of Orange Park, Fl; Sons, James Birtz (Jennifer) of Acworth, Ga and Jeffery Birtz (Daniella) of Orange Park, Fl; Grandchildren, Katelyn Poutre, Jessica Birtz, Michael Birtz, Meghan Poutre, Julia Birtz and Jenna Birtz. Bill was born in Worcester, MA on October 22, 1943. He was a pilot most of his life and had an unbelievable passion for flying. He was chief pilot for Charter Oil Company in Jacksonville Florida for many years. He had so many wonderful memories of his days at Charter and his Charter Oil Family. He then went on to Evergreen Airlines to finish his flying career. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Middleburg, FL. Bill did everything in life with passion and gusto, whether it be playing pool on Tuesday nights with his pool league buddies or talking your ear off about politics. Bill will be dearly missed by all his loved ones, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. A memorial Mass Service will be held on November 4, 2010 at 12pm at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 1606 Blanding Blvd., Middleburg, FL 32068, with Father Edward Rooney and Reverend Andy Blaszkowski officiating.
